Letter from Appleby, Recklesstown, New Jersey, to Kane, Philadelphia, an article in the "League" about an Indian attack on Salt Lake is probably not true, they've named a town located near the main camp at Winter Quarters Kanesville, he is compiling a history for the Church, no news yet of Wilford Woodruff or Orson Pratt, gives him a list of people from Philadelphia who have contributed to the Church. Dated June 20, 1848.

Letter from Appleby, Philadelphia, to Kane, Philadelphia, passes on information of the seagull miracle account from a letter he received from Joseph Young. Dated October 9, 1848.

Letter from Appleby, Recklesstown, New Jersey, to Kane, Philadelphia, the Church is doing well in Utah, he is laboring in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey, has been sick, he mailed Kane's subscription to Hyde's "Guardian," note made in red pencil and notes made in pencil by Kane. Dated December 26, 1848.

Letter from Bates, Salt Lake City, to Young, the trial of John D. Lee regarding the Mountain Meadows Massacre, the U.S. District Attorney in the case is looking for evidence to indict Brigham Young, George A. Smith, and William Hooper, note made by John Young asks [Kane?] for advice on the matter. Dated August 9, 1875.

Letter from Benson, Hempstead, New York, to Kane, Philadelphia, information on collecting money in New York, Jesse Little and Erastus Snow collected $88, Mr. Wood [William] gave $25. Dated March 13, 1848.

Letter from John M. Bernhisel, Washington, to Thomas L. Kane, containing news about Utah's application for a government and Kane's lack of confidence in Babbit "to manage the business at hand". Discussing a rumor that President Millard Fillmore will veto any bill that is beneficial to the Mormons. The letter also mentions that Senator Truman Smith is trying to help them. Dated January 17, 1850

Letter from John M. Bernhisel to Thomas L. Kane, saying that he tried to see Kane in Philadelphia, but was unabl;, he can deliver a box Kane wanted sent to Utah from Kanesville to Utah. He mentions the "contemplated library" of Utah Territory. Dated March 20, 1851.

Letter from John M. Bernhisel, in Kanesville, to Thomas L. Kane, saying that he got Kane's message from [Orson] Hyde and he has the seal rings. He also lays out their plans for leaving Kanesville to go to Utah. Dated May 9, 1851.
