Scope and Contents

The letters were written while Hayhurst's unit was on the road from Knoxville, Tennessee, up to New Market and over to Morristown, then back south through Knoxville and several other towns to Cleveland, Tennessee.

No notable battles were recorded during this period, although Hayhurst spent about a week in a convalescent camp recovering from rheumatism in his feet.
