Contains biographical sketches of Clifford (including one written by his daughter, Rosa A. Clifford Sant), family genealogical research letters, family group records John Clifford (and wife Mary Lois Vanluven) and his parents, and biographical excerpt on Jeremiah Huddleston Cloud Jr. (Battalion paymaster).

One biographical sketch states that John was born Clifford, but was raised by a Wriston family; he is known on the Mormon Battalion roster as John P. Wriston, but was advised by Brigham Young to go back to using his given name for genealogy purposes.
