Scope and Contents

Contains six series pertaining to the Organizational Development and Training Department of the Human Resource Services Department of Brigham Young University. The first series, Past Courses and General Information, contains information about performance ratings of the department and the classes, a needs analysis report, the Bell System course, the Communication Counselor Program (CCP), and the Basic Course in Supervision sessions. Series two, Personnel Servies Annual Reports/Relocation of Training, includes Personnel Services annual reports, information on employee development opportunities, and also information and plans pertaining to the relocation of the department to another building. Series three, Professional Organizations History, includes past information on the UVCLA (Utah Valley Community Leadership Academy) and the ASTD (American Society for Training and Development). Series four, Consulting, includes information on various areas and departments within Human Resource Development, such as the Traffic Office, University Police, Student Life, and so on. Also included is information about past University Conferences, the NEO Project, and the 1987 BYU Survey. Series five, Office Records, contains records, goals, miscellaneous Training and Development publications, and correspondence pertaining to the Personnel Services division of Human Resource Development. Lastly, series six, Seminar History, has information and notes from various conferences such as the Windmill Conference of 1985, the 1985 HRD Conference at USU, and the 1985 Annual ASTD Conference. This series also includes Cleri-Cues publications from 1969-1982, miscellaneous seminars for personnel, and also information about WordPerfect 4.1 and 4.2.

Permission to publish material from Organizational Development and Training Department records must be obtained from the Supervisor of Reference Services and/or the L. Tom Perry Special Collections Board of Curators.

Administrative History

Human Resource Development is a branch of the Human Resource Services Department. It mainly provides training for students, faculty, staff, employees, and employers at Brigham Young University. Each week the department provides numerous Professional, Leadership, and OPAC workshops. These workshops teach and train how to budget money, give effective presentations, resolve conflicts, be an effective leader, manage time, and so on.
