Biographical / Historical

From the Collection:

Jane Thompson grew up in Malta, Idaho. In 1943, Thompson graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music. After graduating from Brigham Young University, Jane Thompson toured Europe and performed for soldiers during World War II as part of the Civilian Actors Technician Service. Thompson returned to the United States in 1947. From 1950 to 1952 Jane served a Latter-day Saint mission in Wales.

In 1952, Jane Thompson began her career at Brigham Young University. Thompson took over as the head of the Student Program Bureau, later known as Young Ambassadors. In 1956, Jane left Brigham Young University to be a talent coach in a professional talent studio in New York. After only three years, Jane returned to Brigham Young University. During her time at Brigham Young University, Thompson created and directed many performing groups and shows. Jane also organized performances for various groups of United States servicemen.

Thompson retired from Brigham Young University in 1984. Jane Thompson received many awards for her service while at Brigham Young University. Jane Thompson passed away on June 1, 2013.
