Scope and Contents note Material contains a collection of documents relating to the World War II experiences of Bill McKell. McKell was called to active duty with the National Guard in 1941. He served with the 96th Bomb Group in the European Theatre. In "There I Was: Remembrance of World War II" (several versions of which are included), he recalls first hearing about Pearl Harbor as a serviceman. In that piece he also recounts being taken as a prisoner-of-war by the German Home Guard after being forced to bail out...

Materials contain a transcribed interview of David B. Haight about his military service. Interview was conducted in 2001 by Robert Freeman and Dennis Wright. The end of the transcript includes part of an interview of an unknown person referred to as Howell. The interview describes how Howell was drafted into the military in 1943 and served in the 106th Calvary, Reconnaissance Squadron, Group A. Includes cassettes tapes of the interviews.
