Scope and Contents note
Materials contain a memoir written by Claude J. Burtenshaw about his military experiences in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Includes two transcribed interviews conducted in 2000 and 2001. The memoir and interviews discuss Burtenshaw's work with Latter-Day Saint chaplain Vernon Cooley and his meeting Eldin Ricks, another Latter-Day Saint chaplain. He describes Latter-Day Saint conferences and other meetings. He also describes his duty of writing letters to killed soldiers' parents. Also contains a photocopied newspaper article written by Burtenshaw titled "Trio of LDS Chaplains Seek Mormon Boys." Dated 2000; 2001.
