This is a notice of the appointment of Samuel Dean as clerk of the Probate Court of Green River County by Judge William A. Carter in December of 1860.
Judge William A. Carter deposition, 1860 May 31
This document contains a deposition testimony of Patrick J. Higgins given before Judge Carter in the case of the People of Utah vs. Jos. Pendergrass, McIntosh, Harvey Riley, and Thomas Maloney regarding the killing of one Samuel Bennett in Echo Canyon while enroute from Camp Floyd. No date was given for the crime.
William A. Carter journal, 1857-1859
The typescript copy of Judge Carter's overland journal detailed his journey West with the army of Colonel Albert Sidney Johnston between 1857 and 1859. Copies of occasional outgoing letters are interspersed with journal entries. This typescript was almost certainly prepared by R.S. Ellison's secretary, working from the original diary which had been loaned to Ellison by Judge Carter's son.

This collection includes several personal and business letters between 1863 and 1925, and letters of condolence at the time of Carter's death in 1881. In addition there is an undated map of Fort Bridger detailing the water lines and buildings.
