Biographical / Historical
James Duane Doty (1799-1865) was a lawyer, judge, and government official. He represented Wisconsin in Congress between 1838 and 1841, and again between 1849 and 1853. He was governor of Wisconsin Territory between 1841 and 1844, and served as the governor of Utah Territory between 1863 and 1865.
