Photocopy of a ledger recording "circulars" sent out by South Carolina Conference President, S.P. Oldham, from January 4, 1897 to February 9, 1898. There are nine circulars labeled "Circular A #1" through "Circular A #9." Topham inserted four pages of notes, which he titled "Items of instructions in Priesthood meeting at Chesterfield Conf. Nov 15 & 16, [18]97 From Apostles Lymon [sic] & Cowley, Pres. [Elias] Kimball & Pres. Oldham." (83 pp.)

Biographical note

S. S. Topham (1874-1895) was a Mormon missionary in the Southern States.

Silas Sanford Topham was born April 15, 1874 in Paragonah, Utah to John Topham and Betsey Baker. He served a mission to the Southern States from April 12, 1897 to May 6, 1899. He married Mary Jensen on July 17, 1895 and they had five children. He died on July 23, 1895.

Custodial History

The collection was donated to the BYU Library on June 25, 2001. The collection has remained with the family and they have retained the original.
