David A. Squires (born 1934) graduated from Brigham Young University's College of Education as a history education major in 1958. After serving in the Air Force, David taught Utah history classes at Lincoln Junior High School in Orem, Utah, during which time he conducted an oral history project with his students from 1967 to 1972. He later taught for the David O. McKay School of Education at Brigham Young University. As of 2018, David was retired and and he and his wife Lois were residents of Orem, Utah.

Lincoln Junior High School began as Lincoln High School, the first high school in Orem, Utah. The building was built in 1921 across the street from the Spencer School, which had previously held two classes for ninth and tenth grade. Lincoln Junior High was organized in 1928 and met in the high school and the Spencer School until 1956 when Orem High School was built for the high schoolers. Its student population was halved in 1962 when Orem Junior High School was built. In 1975, the building was vacated and demolished after being determined a fire hazard. Only the Industrial Arts building remained standing as of 2017.
