Scope and Contents
Contains materials produced by SOCOTWA, a river rafting non-profit organization that started with organizing trips in Glen Canyon, Utah. The materials were collected by Nancy B. Anderson, a long-time member of the organization. Includes meeting notes and agendas, activity fliers, trip itineraries, newsletters, financial records, photographs, member contact information and records, recipes and menus for trips, handbooks, website printouts, t-shirts, pins, ribbons, and some correspondence. Includes a small collection of tourist brochures collected from various locations in the United States, as well as tracts for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Many brochures and letters relate to the New York World Fair of 1964. Also includes the dissertation of Merlin J. Shaw titled, "The Educational Effectiveness of the Traveling School Camp," dated April 1960. Collection materials dated 1956-2010.

Biographical / Historical
Nancy Butchereit Anderson was born in 1934 to John G. and Martha Nakken Butchereit, one of eight children. Nancy married Max J. Anderson in 1968 in Salt Lake City. Max and Nancy were members of Sacra Dulce Chorus, a singing/social group, International Folk Lorics, a folk-dancing group, and SOCOTWA, a camping, river rafting, and social organization. As of 2019, Nancy was a resident of Salt Lake City, Utah.
