Content Description

Contains approximately 48 oral histories on audiotape. Also contains approximately 49 oral history transcriptions. Most transcriptions correspond to a audiotape in the collection, but several audiotapes and transcriptions do not have a match. Most, but not all transciptions have related documentation. All collection materials created and assembled by Jesse Bushman for the purpose of creating his thesis: "A Qualitative Analysis of the Non-LDS Experience in Utah," while working to earn his master's of American studies at Brigham Young University. Recordings and transcriptions include the interviews of members of the Roman Catholic, Presbyterian, Baptist, Buddhist, and Jewish faiths regarding their experiences in Utah. Dated approximately 1994-1995.

Biographical / Historical

Jesse Bushman (b. 1970) is a health policy and advocacy professional.

Jesse Bushman was born in 1970. He went on to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in San Jose, Costa Rica from 1989-1991. He earned a bachelor's degree in humanities and humanistic studies from Brigham Young University, a master's degree in American studies from Brigham Young University, a master's degree in legislative studies from George Washington University, and completed all coursework for a Ph.D. in American history at Penn State University. He has worked in the Federal agency overseeing Medicare and Medicaid, as a staffer in the US House of Representatives, in health care trade associations for insurers and providers, with a major biopharmaceutical manufacturer, and with a significant patient advocacy program.
