General
In this journal, which consists of the first 33 pages of the volume, Harriet refers most often to the weather, family happenings, and her schooling. In her last entry, she closes, “I shall not write any more in this diary as Elisha has given me a new one.” Harriet used the remaining pages of this volume for what she called her Case Book. In it she recorded notes on Conjunctivitis as well as symptoms of patients, procedures she used, and payment she received. It appears she kept this record from 1885 to 1887, then kept sporadic notes on eye patients from 1889 to 1894. There is an index to the Case Book on pp. 181-189.
