William McLachlan was born May 30, 1840, in Scotland, to Gilbert McLachlan and Hannah Welsh Glencorse McLachlan. He had three wives: Caroline Filer, Margaret Naismith, and Lucy Jerrold Hyder Evans. Alice was the daughter of William and Caroline. He died December 3, 1916.
