William Jacobson and Sandy Borbón Rich collection on the Ben E. and Alice M. Rich family
Scope and Contents
Collection includes 19th century and early 20th century pamphlets that largely deal with issues related to controversy, doctrine, and organizations within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The papers also include four volumes of newspaper clippings, a calendar diary owned by William McLachlan, correspondence from Ben E. Rich to Alice M. Rich, schoolbooks used by Alice M. Rich in 1884, and other various papers and documents.

Biographical History
Sandy Borbón Rich (born 1950) is the wife of William Jacobson Rich.
Sandra Borbón Rich, daughter of Joseph Borbón and Margarita Marcos Acosta, was born in Fresno, California, in 1950. Rich graduated from Overfelt High School in San Jose, California, in 1968. She has worked as a salesperson for most of her adult life and, with her husband William, worked in the sales department of their business. Sandy retired in 2008 when she and her husband sold their business.
Biographical History
William Jacobson Rich (born 1940) is the grandson of Ben E. Rich and Alice M. Rich.
William Jacobson (Bill) Rich, son of Francis Wilson Rich and Romania Jacobson Rich, was born in Oakland, California, on July 29, 1940. Rich graduated from Oakland Technical High School in 1958. He later served in the United States Army as an artillery surveyor, and was discharged in 1967. Rich loves cars and for most of his life has worked in or around the automobile industry. In May 1993 he and his wife Sandy Borbón Rich opened a successful automobile "aftermarket accessories" (Sacramento Valley Sunroofs, Inc.) in Sacramento, California. Bill and Sandy retired from that business 2008. Rich is a Master Mason, Past Master of Live Oak Lodge, and Past President of the Board of Directors at Live Oak Lodge in Oakland, California. He is also a member of the Scottish Rite Shrine.
Biographical History
The Rich family was a prominent Mormon family in Idaho and Utah. Ben. E. Rich (1855-1913) was a Mormon missionary, politician, and newspaperman, and is best known for his service as mission president in the Southern States Mission and the Eastern States Mission. Rich was a polygamist, marrying five times between 1877 and 1899. His wives included Diana Farr (1877), Rosabell Osmond (1885), Andrea Christiana Jenson (1888), Laura Bowring (1898), and Alice Caroline McLachlan (1899).

Custodial History
The collection passed from Ben E. and Alice M. Rich to their son, Francis Rich, and then to his son, William J. Rich. It was then both donated and sold by William J. Rich in 2010.
