Biography

Arthur William Sadler (1891-1978) was one of the members of the original Boy Scout troop.

Arthur William Sadler was born on December 30, 1890, in Colchester, England to George Sadler and Harriet Sarah Mann. Sadler was among 64 of the original boys who joined the Boy Scout movement as members of Boy Scout Troop No. 1 in Colchester, England. He immigrated to the United States in 1915. He served in the United States Army in World War I. He married Katie Zereta Butler on July 2, 1919, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together they had five children. Sadler worked as a professional bookkeeper and volunteered for the scouting program for 70 years. Sadler died on October 29, 1978, in Roosevelt, Utah.
