Biography

Elaine Cannon (1922-2003) was an author and editor in Utah and served as the 8th Young Women General President for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Elaine Anderson Cannon was born on April 9, 1922, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Aldon Joseph Anderson and Minnie Evaline Egan. After earning a degree at the University of Utah, Elaine married Donald James Cannon on March 25, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah and they had six children. Elaine worked as an editor for the Deseret News, wrote articles for magazines, and helped organize the LDS Student Association. Elaine served as the 8th Young Women General President in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1978 to 1984. On May 19, 2003, she died in Salt Lake City, Utah.
