Biographical History

Raymond E. Beckham (born 1927) is a retired professor and author in Utah.

Raymond E. Beckham was born in Chandler, Arizona to Charles Beckham and Quintilla Spurlock. After graduating high school, he then moved on to Brigham Young University where he graduated with a major in marketing and a minor in English and Journalism in 1949. Later down the road, he eventually graduated with a Master's degree from BYU in 1969 and furthered this with a PhD in 1972. During his time in BYU he worked for the Extension Division, organized the BYU Evening School and Travel Study Department, and worked as a Sports Information Director. After recieving his Master's and PhD, he also worked as a faculty member and administrator for BYU's Communications Department, taught for 21 years as an advertising and public relations professor, founded BYU's Aspen Grove Family Camp, and established the Internship Program in New York City.

Outside of his time in University, Raymond Beckham also served faithfully as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Not only did he serve as a missionary for the church when he was 19, but he also served in callings including Stake President, Bishop, a High Council member, scoutmaster, Mission President for the Canada Calgary Mission, and a Regional Representative of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
