Biographical History
Evan Dee Olsen (1922-1967) was active in U.S. Army Air Forces 1942-1945 and a Prisoner of War (POW) in Germany.
Evan Dee Olsen was born February 1, 1922 in Ephraim Utah to James Andrew Olsen and Katie Christensen. He reported to the US Army Air Forces on August 3rd, 1943 and captured as a POW November 21, 1944 in Frankfurt, Germany. Beginning February 6th he was forced to walk the 600 mile "Death March" before being liberated on May 2nd, 1945 in Buchen, Germany. Later in life he was a salesman and draftsman. He married Maxine Edith Coates in Mount Pleasant, Utah on July 27, 1945 and was the father of eight children. He died in a plane crash on May 15, 1967 in Rupert, Idaho.
