Biography
Elizabeth Fluckiger Fuhriman (1860-1936) worked as a midwife in Providence, Utah, in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Elizabeth Fluckiger Fuhriman was born May 25, 1860 in Dürrenroth, Switzerland to Ulrich Flückiger and Anna Kaeser. She married Christian Von Almen in 1884, the same year she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The couple immigrated from Switzerland to Utah in 1888, where Christian died a few months later. In 1890, Elizabeth was selected by the Relief Society to go to Salt Lake City to study nursing. She became a midwife and worked in Providence, Utah. On July 10, 1895, Elizabeth married Godfrey Fuhriman in Logan, Utah. Elizabeth worked as a midwife until at least 1932. She died October 7, 1936.
