Biographical History

H. Hal Visick (1930-2012) was an educational administrator, attorney, and law professor in Utah. He also photographed Brigham Young University performing groups in the 1970s.

Hubert Hal Visick was born on June 12, 1930 in Kanab, Utah to Hubert Eaton Visick and Gwendolyn McAllister. He was raised in Kanab, Ogden, and Salt Lake City, Utah, and as a young man worked at Bryce Lodge. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he left his undergraduate studies at the University of Utah to serve in the Texas-Louisiana Mission between 1949 and 1952. After his return he transferred to Brigham Young University (BYU) and completed his bachelor's degree in 1955.

Following graduation, Visick served as a pilot in the United States Air Force until 1959. That year, he married Else Hedvig Bjorndal in Salt Lake City, Utah, and they had eight children.

After leaving the Air Force, Visick earned his law degree at George Washington University in 1963. He then worked as a lawyer in California and Michigan before being appointed Assistant to the President and General Counsel at Brigham Young University in 1971. During his time at the university, he also taught religion courses and law classes. Visick briefly left BYU to serve as president of the Illinois Peoria Mission from 1986 to 1989. He retired from the university in 2001.

Visick passed away on October 23, 2012 in Provo, Utah.
