Stan Laurel (1890-1965) was a comedian known for his work with Oliver Hardy.

Stan Laurel was born Arthur Stanley Jefferson on June 16, 1890 in Cumbria, England. He started acting at the age of 16, and became Charlie Chaplin's understudy in 1907. He moved to the United States in 1917, and changed his name to Stan Laurel. He first worked with Oliver Hardy in 1925, and they would continue to work on hundreds of films together. Stan Laurel died February 23, 1965 in Santa Monica, California.
