Biographical History

Katie Jones (1897-) was a deaf woman and partner in a Utah shoe repair business. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Kate Jones was born in Malad, Idaho in 1897. At three years old she contracted scarlet fever which caused her to lose her hearing and was deaf the remainder of her life. She attended the Utah School for the Deaf and Blind in Ogden, Utah, graduating from the eighth grade in 1915 and from high school in 1919.

She married Grant Morgan, with whom she had attended school. Together they owned and ran a shoe repair shop in Spanish Fork, Utah before moving the shop to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1944.
