Biographical History
The Weir family included Robert Walter Weir (1803-1889), professor of drawing; his first wife Louisa Ferguson (d. 1845); his second wife Susan Martha Bayard; and their children, especially John Ferguson Weir (1841-1926), director of Fine Arts, Yale; and Julian Alden Weir (1852-1919), artist.

Scrapbook contains information about Gulian Verplanck, Harry Casey Weir, and William Bayard Weir, with materials dating from between 1849 and 1886. The Gulian Verplanck section contain newspaper clippings about his suicide. Harry Casey Weir section contains one photograph of Weir and his obituaries. William Bayard Weir section contains newspaper clipping about his murder by the Indians. There is also a note by Lavinia M. Morehead, written between 1765 and 1929.
