Biography
Student Life (established 1972) administers programs related to student activities, student counseling, and student instruction outside of the colleges and departments of instruction.] Student Life was established in 1972, replacing the earlier Student Personnel Services division. The unit was given responsibility for coordinating and overseeing aspects of student life that are outside the range of the colleges and departments of instruction, including student activities, counseling, student health, and student living conditions. It has been administered by Dean of Student Life, and since 1996 it has been administered by the Vice President of Student Life. Administrators have included J. Elliot Cameron (1972-1979), David M. Sorenson (1979-1986), Maren Mouritsen (1986-1996), Alton L. Wade (1996-2001), and Janet S. Scharman (2001-).
