Administrative History

The International Student Office (1970-1989) was an administrative unit at Brigham Young University. The office was responsible for assisting international students, visitors, and exchange scholars.

The International Student Office (also known as the International Office) was established in 1970 in a renaming of the earlier Foreign Student Office. Between 1970 and 1984 it operated under the dean of Student Life, and then became a subunit of Multicultural Education (1984-1986) and Multicultural Programs (1986-1989). In 1989 it was reorganized as International Student Services.

Advisors or chairs of the office included Ariel S. Ballif (1970-1972), Dwayne N. Andersen (1972-1976), Max W. Swenson (1976-1982), Enoc Q. Flores (1982-1984), Casey L. Christensen (1984-1987), and Enoc Q. Flores (1987-1989).
