Rudger papers, 1952-1977 (American University of Beirut is a private, non-sectarian institution of higher learning, founded in 1866 under a charter from the State of New York; name changed in 1920; in 1965, consisted of four faculties: Arts and Sciences; Medical Sciences including the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing and Public Health, the Hospital, and the University Health and Sanitation Service; Engineering; and Agricultural Sciences; degrees granted under authority of the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York; 469 faculty as of Oct. 1, 1965; 3100 students in 1965-66, from more than 50 countries; 75% of students from Arab countries of the Middle East, approximately 20% women)
