Administrative History

The Randolph Land and Livestock Company (1903-1910) was a Utah ranching operation and business.

On May 21, 1903 the Randolph Land and Cattle Company was incorporated with Alex Brown, Archibald McKinnon, W. L. Smock, Henry Hoffman and Charles Jenson constituting the Board of Directors. Following incorporation, Archibald McKinnon, of Randolph, Utah, was elected chairman of the Board and Charles Jenson was selected Vice President. Located in Randolph, Utah, the Company grazed its own livestock, primarily cattle but also horses and sheep, and leased land to independent livestock owners.

Capital was raised by selling company stock, and stockholders' participated in both annual and general meetings held at the Randolph County Court House. Stockholders' also elected members of the Board of Directors. Day-to-day company operations resided with the Board of Directors who met on a near monthly basis. Until March 1920, when the board began using an office in Randolph, board meetings were typically held at the home of one of the board member's.

Board of Directors responsibilities included the payment of stock dividends, borrowing money, acquiring new land, capital expenditures, hiring range riders, and merging with and purchasing other livestock companies' land. Tasks related to the upkeep of the company's livestock and land included: dealing with strays, salting the land, dealing with damage done by other companies bordering the company's land, livestock trespassing, assessing cattle, turning out the bulls, use of the land, and dipping the cattle.

On March 12, 1910, the Articles of Incorporation were rewritten and the name of the company was changed to the Randolph Land and Livestock Company.
