Administrative History

The Box Elder Stake (1877-1944) was an ecclesiastical unit of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in northwestern Utah.

Box Elder County is located in the north-western part of Utah. Pioneers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints began to settle in the area around 1851. In 1855 Apostle Lorenzo Snow was called to preside over the area, and in 1877 the Box Elder Stake was organized. The Box Elder Stake Tabernacle (formerly Brigham City Tabernacle) is a beautiful meetinghouse/concert hall built after the neo-Gothic style, and was constructed by the pioneers in 1897.
