American Motors Corporation
Biography
The American Motors Corporation was formed on May 1, 1954, when the Hudson Motor Car Company merged with Nash-Kelvinator Corporation. The first president was George Mason. When Mason died suddenly just six months after the merger, George Romney, who was previously second in command, took over the company. He reorganized the company and turned its focus to small cars. Romney left the company in 1962, and it was led by various presidents until 1987, when it was absorbed by Chrysler.
