Administrative History

The Department of Theology and Religion (1910-1921) was an instruction unit at Brigham Young University. The department taught courses on the history and doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Department of Theology and Religion was established in 1910 in a renaming of the earlier Department of Theology. It was part of the Church Teachers College, and was moved to the School of Arts and Sciences in 1920. In 1921 the department was renamed the Theology Department.

Department chairs included George H. Brimhall (1910-1911, 1913-1914, 1920-1921) and Joseph B. Keeler (1911-1913, 1914-1920).
