Brigham Young University (1903- ) is a university sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Provo, Utah.
Brigham Young University was established in 1903 in a renaming of Brigham Young Academy. Past and present Brigham Young University presidents include George H. Brimhall (1903-1921), Franklin S. Harris (1921-1945), Howard S. McDonald (1945-1949), (acting president) Christian Jensen (1949-1951), Ernest L. Wilkinson (1951-1971), Dallin H. Oaks (1971-1980), Jeffrey R. Holland (1980-1989), Rex E. Lee (1989-1995), Merrill J. Bateman (1996-2003), Cecil O. Samuelson (2003-2014), Kevin J. Worthen (2014-2023), and C. Shane Reese (2023- ).
Brigham Young University is owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as part of the Church Educational System (CES). The university is governed by a Board of Trustees, which, since 1939, has consisted of the First Presidency of the Church as well as other General Authorities or general officers of the Church appointed by the First Presidency. The Board of Trustees provides general direction and oversees the formulation of broad policies as well as the approval of all executive leadership and faculty appointments at the university. The Board of Trustees delegates to the University President the responsibility to conduct the operations of the institution and administer the policies enacted by the board. The President serves as the chief executive officer and general manager of the University. Between 1996 and 2014, the President of the university was also been a General Authority of the Church.
Brigham Young University has grown from a small academy to one of the world's largest private universities. Sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, BYU offers a unique educational environment that promotes learning by study and also by faith.

William T. Black collection on Mormon athletics
Contains research files on Latter-day Saint and Brigham Young University athletes. Includes scrapbooks containing pictures, magazines, and newspaper articles, and various books and news articles. The two books are: "Mormon Athletics" and "Mormon Athletics Book 2" published in 1980 and 1982 respectively. In November of 2001 Dr. Black donated his researach files as well as sports programs, magazines, and scrapbooks to Brigham Young University.
R. Lanier Britsch papers
Includes resumes, letters of recommendation, and correspondence while at the university as well as grades, old class rolls, reading lists, and other class material. Education Week and Kennedy Center records are included. Also includes Britsch's dissertation, drafts of other writings, and faculty addresses.
S. Kent Brown papers
Contains files documenting Brown's writings and research while at Brigham Young University. Materials include correspondence related to the Journal of Book of Mormon Studies, files related to the Journey of Faith and the Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior projects, and his correspondence. Also included are drafts and research notes for his works on Luke and other important Christian leaders.
Department of Agronomy and Horticulture records
Contains class notes, research files, publications, student projects, and other materials produced by department administrators. Includes information on the Desert Biome Project, sagebrush, and projects in Iran and Tennessee. Materials date from between 1945 and 1980.
Department of Archives and Manuscripts collection
Contains research materials, data from deeds, plot maps, and quotes from journals and oral history interviews, concerning the origin of the name "Temple Hill" in the 1870s, the area subsequently occupied by Brigham Young University (13 items). Includes song, "A Temple at Brigham Young University."
Department of Chemical Engineering records
Contains budget records, research reports, notebooks, correspondence, class notes, class handouts and outlines, student files, Faculty Council meeting minutes, faculty correspondence and contracts, and the research files of Calvin Bartholomew. Dated 1960-1987.

Contains the general department files, the Production Department files, and files of the department chair and faculty of the Chemistry Department at Brigham Young University, dated 1927 to 1976. Includes faculty papers of Leo P. Vernon and Hugh W. Peterson.

Contains papers, correspondence, notes, and photographs regarding teaching, research, and administration at Brigham Young University. The correspondence deals with various university matters.
