Administrative History
The Department of Home Economics (1984-1990) was an instructional unit at Brigham Young University. The department was responsible for preparing students for professional education and for the enrichment of home life as well.
The Department of Home Economics was established in 1984 in a reorganization of the earlier Department of Home Economics Education. It was administered by the College of Family, Home, and Social Sciences. In 1990 it was again renamed as the Department of Family Sciences.
The department chair was Carol Ellsworth (1984-1990).
