Materials include letters to Orson F. Whitney from his mother, Helen Mar Kimball Whitney, his sister Genevieve (Gen), and his sister-in-law Emma (Emily Ann Smoot). The letters are dated between March 17, 1882 and April 16, 1882, and give Orson updates on daily life and other events that the women experienced during Orson's absence. Materials include letters from Orson F. Whitney to his parents, Horace K. Whitney and Helen Mar Kimball Whitney. Orson wrote many of them while serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Europe. The letters contain information about his health, mission, travels, and personal spiritual experiences. Dated June 29, 1873-July 15, 1877.
