This collection contains materials of Katharine Smith Salisbury, sister of Joseph Smith, Jr., and of her family, especially of her son, Don C. Salisbury, and his descendants. The materials include photographs, letters, sheet music, and restoration project papers.

Photocopies of handwritten letters and typed copies of correspondence. Salisbury writes to the Mormon Church leaders Brigham Young (1801-1877), Orson Pratt (1811-1881), and John Taylor (1808-1887) requesting funds. One letter in the collection is from Brigham Young. Two of the items were written by Salisbury to her "Dear Sister" (probably her sister-in-law, Samantha) in 1853 and 1854 lamenting the death of a family member, "Jenkins."

Scope and Contents Contains letters and postcards between the Alvin and Amelia Smith, including correspondence from their courtship and during his missionary service in England. The letters discuss routine aspects of missionary work, such as finances and accommodations, investigators, companions and conferences, local attitudes, and events. ALS's written between Charles R. Shumway and David W. Smith, descendants of Asahel Smith, Sr., the grandfather of Joseph Smith, Jr., which relates to Smith family history. Also contains a letter from Shumway to The Ensign concerning David W. Smith and J. Winter Smith and a copy of an Ensign article about the Smiths.

Photocopies of a typescript of a diary by Smith with miscellaneous correspondence. Also included are an autobiography and a diary by Lucy Meserve Smith, a wife of George A. Smith, and the autobiography of another of Smith's wives, Hannah Mariah L. Smith. Writings of George A. Smith's granddaughter, Zora Smith Jarvis, are also included in the collection.
