Materials include: copies of his mission journals, including photographs that have been transferred to photo archives; written testimonies of missionaries while he served as President of the Great Lakes Mission; Great Lakes Mission publications, from his time serving as mission president there; his autobiography; correspondence; copies of newspaper clippings about him; and family history work.

The materials relate to Farnsworth's activities particulary in the Mormon Church. Included in the collection are letters from the fourth president of the Mormon Church, Willford Woodruff, patriarchal blessings, letters relating to Mormon polygamy, and a book recording the work done in the Manti Temple of the Mormon Church.

Handwritten and signed letter by John Daniel Thompson McAllister dated 1901 addressed to a stake president in the Manti region. This letter is a request to admonish the members of that stake to be generous with their donations so the costs of operating the temple could be covered.
