He served in Michigan, and Illinois, primarily Chicago. Ludlow's entry on April 15, 1902, includes the description of a visit with David Hyrum Smith, youngest son of Joseph Smith, while he was in the Northern Illinois Hospital and Asylum for the Insane in Elgin, Illinois.
