Harriet Ann Thatcher Preston diary
Handwritten and bound diary covering a four month period of time, kept by Harriet Thatcher Preston. The item describes daily events from Harriet's life and gives an account of a train trip from Utah to the eastern United States that she took with her husband, William. Dated 1872 to 1873.
Request for evaluation of the Big Springs Ranch
Two-page letter written by the Lessor (a person or company that leases property to someone) for the purpose of requesting a reevaluation of the tax value of the land after a court case that resulted in a change of the water rights. Dated June 8, 1903.
Joseph Richardson letter to Brigham Young
Handwritten and signed letters addressed to Brigham Young, the second president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Richardson requests that Moses Thatcher be kept on the construction of the Utah Northern Railroad until further notice. Also included is a copy of the item apparently in the same hand. Dated September 7, 1875.
William Wollerton Riter letter
Handwritten and signed letter, dated September 12, 1876, and addressed to George Reynolds. The item was written in Echo, Utah. Riter instructs Reynolds to request information of Union Pacific Railroad Company directors to see if sufficient transportation would be furnished during the fall and winter.
