Murdock wrote about his early life and his converstion to the Mormon Church in 1830. He followed that faith to Kirtland, Ohio; Missouri; and Illinois. There is writing at the top of the copy indicating that this copy was given by Edna Lyman Houtz, granddaughter of Amasa M. Lyman. Materials dated 1862.
