Abegg was a student at Brigham Young University in 1952 and was closely associated with the university in later years. Typewritten biography. The item was originally presented to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers meeting in 1925. Mary's father joined the Mormon Church and moved his family to Nauvoo, Illinois and later to Utah. Mary married John Witmer Hoover in 1855, had twelve children, and spent most of her adult life in Provo, Utah.
