Scope Note: Phonograph records originally invented by Columbia Records, first introduced in 1948. The records have a rotational speed of 33 1/3 rpm (revolutions per minute), and have very fine grooves. They, along with 45 rpm records, replaced 78 rpm records in popularity.

Scope and Contents "The Mormon Pioneers" is the seventh album in the Columbia Records Legacy Collection and was produced by Goddard Lieberson with the aid of the Special Projects Staff: Charles Burr. Joan Meyers, Ira Teichberg, David Rubinson, John Simon, and Arlene Steibel. The songs contained in this album are songs that the Mormon pioneers sang as they migrated West and settled in Utah.
