Notebook tells of Blanchard's conversion to the Mormon Church in Connecticut in 1844 and migration to Nauvoo, Illinois. From Nauvoo he joined the Mormon migration to Utah Valley and settled in Hobble Creek, Utah County, Utah. The notebook includes references to farming in the county, relationships with the Indians, and the Utah War.

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typescript. The item is an autobiography of John Langston "in the 55 year of my Life." Langston was born in England and migrated to the United States when he was 16 years old. He worked in the iron industry in several states and joined the Mormon Church. Langston migrated to Salt Lake City, Utah, and campaigned against the United States Army during the Utah Expedition of 1857-1858. He was also involved in the Black Hawk War. Leaflet describing the history of the Johnston Army Payroll Safe and how it came to Utah. The safe was stored at Brigham Young University for many years. Leaflet was created by the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and the safe is on display at the Daughters of the Utah Pioneer Museum in Provo, Utah.
