On the way, she stayed with her aunt Daisy Dixon in Parowan, Utah. She tells about her daily activities, Church meetings, and a young man who visited her named Jim S.

She left Winter Quarters and arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1847. She also describes her life in that city. She also includes many of her poems.
