Contains materials relating to the Black Hawk War. Included are the writing of John and Etta Sidwell documenting the story of the pioneers and the first settlers in the Salt Lake Valley as well as his speeches, music scores, letters, journals, and three notebooks used at war veteran meetings. Materials are dated approximately 1880-1910.

Handwritten indictment for the Territory of Utah, Great Salt Lake County, United States Third District Court. The inditement was made against Thomas H. Ferguson for the Sept. 1859 murder of Alexander Carpenter. The item was signed by Hosea Stout, Deputy U. S. District Attorney for Utah Territory.

Photocopies of various records relating primarily to Iron County, Utah and to its various organizations. Included are Pinto United Order Distribution and cash ledgers; Parowan Equitable Co-op minute books; various personal certificates and correspondence; cash stock, and loan certificates; illustrations and descriptions of English inventions; an indenture; a land deed; and song lyrics to the "Handcart Song." The photocopies were made by the Parowan Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Andrew Jackson letters

Two handwritten and signed letters both written in Washington D.C. One, an original, is dated May 10, 1824 and addressed to John C. Calhoun (1782-1850), Secretary of War of the United States. The item recommends Lt. Hammond, a recent graduate of West Point, to a position with the United States Corps of Engineers. The other, a photocopy, is dated June 21, 1832 and addressed to "my son" discussing the bill for the laying out of the Territory of Arkansas and in getting the area surveyed.
