Correspondence, articles and publications, newspaper clippings, paintings, and photographs. The collection relates to the history of aviation including ballooning, dirigibles, and air races. Also included are the correspondence and other records of Holden C. Richardson. These materials include certificates signed by presidents of the United States.

James Jesse Strang papers
Correspondence of six items. Five are addressed to Strang and one is addressed to H. D. McCulloch, a follower of Strang. Also with the materials is a letter of appointment to make Strang a mail carrier. Also included is a handwritten copy of Strang's "Municipalities" which is found in chapter 27 of his "The Book of the Law of the Lord." With the materials is a copy of the Michigan legislature's rules dated 1854.
Will James letters to Clem Yore
Collection of handwritten letters by Will James to Clem Yore, which primarily discuss James' writing and illustrating career. Some of the letters contain examples of James' illustrations, one of which is an original pen and ink drawing.
