Scope and Contents Handwritten diaries, an autobiography, and correspondence. Jones wrote his autobiography in 1881. Jones served in the Utah Militia during the Black Hawk War and had numerous occupations and positions in the Mormon Church. His diaries start in 1884 when he was called to serve on a mission for the Mormon Church in England. Many entries are lengthy and detailed. Holograph diary which includes minutes and business records of the Provo City Corporation, lists of other people convicted and sentenced, poems of prisoners, news articles written by Jones on prison activities, and letters he received from family and friends during his period of imprisonment.

Albert William Jones diaries and scrapbooks

Scope and Contents Handwritten diary and scrapbooks. Jones writes a biography of his father, Albert Jones (1839-1925), and then writes an autobiography of his own life up to the 1890s when his diary begins. The early entries are retrospective, and the actual diary begins some time later. Most entries are short and relate to activities in Provo, Utah. Also included are thirty nine scrapbooks, most of which start in the 1920s and are arranged by subject. These items consist largely of newspaper clippings...
