Holographs, typescripts (some duplicated), printed material and newspaper clippings (photocopies). Contains journals, correspondence, mission papers, speeches and notes, newspaper clippings, and memorabilia concerning Cowley's mission to New Zealand, time as a student in Washington, D.C., his life as a mission president and Apostle, and the development of missionary activity in the South Pacific and Orient. Also included are an autobiography by Elva T. Cowley and Cowley family histories.

The correspondents include various leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dalton's mother, and other friends and associates. The diaries cover the time when Dalton served on a mission for the Church in the Central States from 1914 to 1916, when he was with the United States armed forces in France from 1918 to 1919, and when he served as a mission in South Africa from 1929 to 1935....

William Horne Dame certificates and letter

Abstract

The folder contains microfilmed copies of a certificate of membership in the Utah territorial legislature, a certificate verifying that Dame was an elder in the Mormon Church, and a letter, dated 12 August 1858, of an "investigating committee" of prominent Mormons (including the apostle, George Albert Smith) stating that complaints against Dame were without foundation. The nature of these complaints was not stated.
