Scope and Contents Handwritten account of Keith's overland journey from St. Joseph, Missouri to Weaverville, California, in 1850. Keith paid a "Mr. Platner" to guide him and seventeen others to California. After being swindled and abandoned at Fort Laramie, Keith was furnished with provisions by the fort's commanding officer.
