Materials created between 1927 and 2019.

J. L. Crawford slides of World War II

Scope and Contents Contains 205 photographic slides, three letters, and small token collection relating to the life and military service of J.L. Crawford. Slides document J.L. Crawford's service in the U.S. Army while deployed in Europe and the 157 Infantry Division's liberation of the Dachau concentration camp. Slides also include propaganda slides from Adolf Hitler's regime. Letters are written to J.L. Crawford from fellow World War II veterans and include personal correspondence. Frederick W. Crook and Elizabeth Fletcher Crook collection of Mandarin squares and Chinese embroidery

Scope and Contents

Contains 40 antique mandarin squares and embroidery pieces collected in China by Frederick W. and Elizabeth Crook in the 1960s and 1970s. The squares include badges worn on the front of surcoats, sleeve bands, and skirt panels, embroidered with animals or birds that indicate ranks. Embroidery includes hats, garters, pouches, pockets, and other pieces. The collection dates from the latter part of the Qing Dynasty period, approximately 1800 to 1911.
